Cynthia Gordon-Floyd, C.P.A., C.F.E.

Cynthia Gordon-Floyd is the founder of Willing Steward Ministries, LLC; a Bible-centered ministry focused on the effective and efficient financial management of churches and other Christian organizations.

Cynthia has been a member of the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Manassas, VA since 1991. She has served as a Steward and the chief financial officer/financial secretary for 30 years. During her tenure as Financial Secretary, she revamped all financial policies and procedures to create a trusted and efficient financial environment. Cynthia strengthened financial controls and security including financial reporting, instituting zero-based budgeting and implementation of a new membership and financial accounting system. Cynthia also helped secure a $2M+ loan to build an educational wing and a refinance package resulting in monthly interest savings of more than 20%. Cynthia is a sought-after speaker/trainer/financial expert for church financial staffs and church financial policies and procedures, stewardship principles, new ministries setup, and understanding IRS requirements for churches and other non-profits. Cynthia is enthusiastic about every aspect of ministry and embraces her calling to financial ministry within the Body of Christ.

Cynthia is formerly an owner/member of Restore Media, LLC, a Washington, DC-based magazine publishing and tradeshow producer. She served as the chief financial officer responsible for the overall financial management of the company, including accounting and finance, budgeting, strategic planning, banking and financing relationships, tax preparation and audit. Cynthia worked in corporate financial management for over 25 years in various executive positions at book, newspaper and magazine publishers and in the insurance industry.

Cynthia launched CGN Ventures, LLC in 2008, a real estate investing, and property management firm dedicated to purchasing, renovating, leasing and selling investment properties to help provide quality housing for those harmed during the 2007-2008 banking and financial crisis. Cynthia purchased and leased more the $2 million in real estate investments.

Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in business and accounting from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and a Master of Business Administration degree in management accounting from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Cynthia is a certified public accountant in the state of Virginia and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (A.I.C.P.A.) and the Virginia Society of CPA’s. Cynthia is a certified nonprofit accountant through the A.I.C.P.A. Cynthia is also a certified fraud examiner.

Cynthia is an adjunct professor in the Business department of Stratford University, teaching accounting, business and management. Cynthia also teaches a certificate program in Church Financial Management at Turner Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA. Cynthia writes a church financial management column for The Christian Recorder, the official newspaper of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Cynthia currently serves on the Board of Directors for Goodness Village, a ministry in Arkansas providing housing and care for cancer and other seriously ill patients. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Child Evangelism Fellowship of Virginia, a ministry focused on spreading the Good News to children of all ages worldwide.

Cynthia is proud mother of two wonderful young adults; Ashlei and Branden and has been blessed with a son-in-love, Nicholas. Cynthia’s favorite scripture is “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5 (NIV)
